ZafCANADA recovers and refurbishes furniture that would otherwise be thrown out, generating a sustainable and carbon-negative source of revenue. ZafCANADA ships the donations to Ethiopia. The furniture is then upcycled, reupholstered and sold. As ZafCANADA is a non-profit foundation, the money earned from these sales are used to plant trees, clean rivers and collect more plastic. The project is still in its early stages but has already begun to show promising results. ZafCANADA believes that reducing waste from landfills in developed nations while simultaneously foresting a developing country is the most efficient and sustainable way to lower our carbon footprint.
